Crans-Montana in a few words …
For me, the best view of the Swiss Alps is from Crans-Montana, by far! The station itself if in a plateau, so the streets are not all uphill and downhill which gives peace of mind too. The slopes are not difficult, mostly red slopes and just 1 black if I remember well, lets say it is a level 7 out of 10 for skiers (however there is a great debutants zone if you are starting). Easy access from Geneva, either by car or train, good restaurants and the best part (that does not apply for my last weekend) it is facing the south which means it is almost alway sunny there, leaving you with pretty long days, even during winter, and most of the time the sun is at the rendezvous.
Accommodation: Crans-Ambassador 5*
This hotel is wonderful and was everything I expected; it was under renovation while I was studying there so I was super curious to visit and enjoy the place. I really recommend it for either a couple romantic getaway or family vacation, it is both calm and family friendly. The staff was adorable from the first impression to the last farewell (specially the guys from the vallet-parking since they are going out and moving cars and taking suitcases up and down and always smiling and super friendly!).
You enter by the 7th floor and after the reception to the left you have an amazing lounge with huge windows to enjoy the view or a terrace to drink a tea covered in a blanket!
